Ingredients
Scale
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4-1/2 extra flour (as needed)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir until dissolved and let sit until foamy.
- Add the olive oil, yogurt, and egg to the foamy mixture and whisk until combined.
- In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup of flour with salt. Combine with the wet ingredients, adding more flour gradually until thick.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 3 minutes, being careful to add only enough flour to prevent sticking.
- Cover the dough loosely and allow it to rise for about an hour, until doubled in size.
- Once risen, press down, divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, and shape each into a ball.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and roll out each ball into a circle. Cook in the skillet until golden brown on both sides.
- Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm; serve with melted butter or garlic butter.
Notes
Adjust the amount of flour used based on the dough’s stickiness during kneading.
For extra flavor, try brushing naan with garlic herb butter after cooking.
