Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices bread
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- butter for brushing the pan
- powdered sugar
- cinnamon sugar
- maple syrup
- berries
Instructions
- Cut the crust off all sides of the 8 slices of bread, then cut the bread into 1-inch sticks.
- Crack the 4 eggs into a large, shallow bowl and whisk until well blended.
- Incorporate the 1 cup of heavy cream and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, whisking until smooth and custard-like.
- Add in the 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, whisking until no lumps remain.
- Heat a large pan or griddle over medium heat (about 325°F) and coat with butter or cooking spray.
- Dip each stick into the custard, ensuring all edges are coated, and lay them on the griddle. Repeat with the remaining sticks, working in batches if needed.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, until golden brown, then flip and toast the other side for an additional 5 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked sticks to a plate, dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar, and serve.
