Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (about 6 large bananas)
- 1 cup canola or vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease two 9×5" loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray, then dust with cocoa powder and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and sea salt.
- Using a stand mixer or a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, oil, vanilla, eggs, and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, cool on a wire rack. Let the bread sit in the pan for about 20 minutes, then carefully run a butter knife around the edges to remove it.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the sweetness by using less brown sugar.
For an extra chocolatey experience, add more chocolate chips.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep moist.
